Welcome to
ReBuild

Welcome to ReBuild, a platform about the hidden side of injury recovery. We discuss the mental challenges of injuries, the loss of identity that can come with time away from sport, and to help people feel less alone.

Who I am

Hi there, I’m Tom!

I’m a former rugby player whose career was constantly shaped by serious injury and long periods of recovery. My own experience of injury revealed how deeply sport and identity can become intertwined, which ultimately inspired the creation of ReBuild.

During my own rehabilitation, I became increasingly aware of the gap between the realities of recovery and how it is often portrayed on social media. ReBuild began as a way to share a more honest perspective - creating space for conversations around identity, isolation, and the psychological side of rebuilding after sport

What ReBuild Offers

‘The Long Road Back’

‘The Long Road Back’ is ReBuild’s podcast series, built around honest conversations about injury and recovery. Each episode focuses on in-depth interviews with elite athletes, exploring the realities behind setbacks - the uncertainty, frustration, identity challenges, and mental battles that rarely get seen publicly.

By moving beyond highlight reels and comeback headlines, the podcast aims to share authentic experiences from those who have lived through injury, helping athletes feel understood, less isolated, and better prepared for the realities of the recovery journey.

Speaking Events

ReBuild also exists beyond the screen - offering honest, in-person conversations with schools, teams, and sporting environments. These talks focus on opening up real discussions around the ‘hidden’ part of injury - the loss of identity, uncertainty, and pressures that often go unspoken in sport.

The aim is simple - to give young athletes a healthier, more honest understanding of injury and recovery, and the confidence to talk about it openly.

Social Media

ReBuild’s Instagram platform is where the conversation lives day-to-day. Through short videos and reflections, it explores the emotional reality of injury while encouraging honest interaction with followers. The aim is to challenge unrealistic recovery narratives online and create a space where athletes feel understood, not compared.
